Abstracts With Stencils / Collage

During this workshop at the new Racine Studio, participants will play with various mixed media techniques using stencils, acrylic paint and gouache. After exploring different techniques on heavyweight paper, you'll select a color palette and work with elements of composition. 

Agenda:

Work session 1 (1:00 to 2:30 p.m.): Work with mixed media techniques and stencils. Play with shapes and mark-making. Experiment with color and value. Creates pages of layered patterns and visual texture.

Break (2:30 to 2:45 p.m.)

Work session 2 (2:45 to 5 p.m.): Shape and composition. Sketch several abstract compositions and choose a favorite. Compile techniques from first session into a finished piece. The final project will include collage, paint and stencil techniques on 11"x14" cradled wood panel.

Workshop includes all materials to create an 11"x14" abstract, plus a 9"x12" stencil to keep.

*In order to provide social distancing, this workshop is limited to 6 participants. Disposable gloves and hand santizer will be available inside the studio. Washroom with sink/soap is located down the hall in the common area. Participants are welcome to bring refreshments; there is a small refrigerator inside the studio.

**Registrants who have a concern about shared supplies (paintbrushes, pastels, pencils) are welcome to bring their own. Please contact Jennifer for specific supply list.
