Boho Feathers in Watercolor

Feathers are the ultimate subject for mastering watercolor—they invite you to practice delicate line work, smooth gradients, and the spontaneity of wet-on-wet technique.

In this step-by-step workshop, you will learn how to capture texture, movement, and light using your favorite watercolors. By the end of class, you’ll have a finished, frame-ready piece featuring three distinct, beautifully coordinated feathers. Or, paint each feather separately to be framed for a minimalist look. (These would also look terrific on greeting cards.)

Try wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques to create both soft blends and crisp edges. Mix rich, luminous tones to give your feathers depth and texture. Use brushwork to capture the fine, airy wisps of down and the structured vanes of the quill.
