Bright Blooms in Mixed Media

Just in time for Mother's Day: create a special, everlasting bouquet to give or keep. This process starts with rough sketches, then layers color using watercolors and pencils/pastels. You'll learn how to make your blooms come alive with bold strokes, gentle details and depth of color. Work on heavyweight paper, whatever size you choose. Finished piece can be matted and framed to your liking.

Supplies List:

• Watercolor, Mixed Media or Bristol Paper (I like 9"x12" cold press 140 lb. Watercolor paper by Canson or Strathmore)

• Watercolor Paint (your favorite set -- I prefer tube watercolors for the vibrancy of this project)

• Watercolor paintbrush

• Water-soluble crayons, pastels and/or pencils (Neocolors, Scribble Sticks, Inktense Pencils or Gelatos) 

• White acrylic paint

• Water for rinsing brushes 

• Paper towel or rag for blotting brushes 

• Reference photos: have a few bouquet samples handy of your favorite flowers
