About the Event

The first part of this class will discuss building a color story and color mixing. Then, we'll use gestural marks to create the structure of an abstract. Layering stencils and marks, we'll pull in different colors to tell the story. The basics in this class will help you build knowledge for future projects, whether you use this color palette or select your own.

Supplies List:

• 9"x12" Watercolor, Mixed Media or Bristol Paper (or Canvas)

• Acrylic Paint (Azo Yellow Lemon, Vermilion, Primary Cyan, Permanent Green Deep, White, Black)

• Paintbrushes (1-2" flat, and fine detail brush)

• Water-soluble crayons, pastels and/or pencils (Neocolors, Scribble Sticks, Inktense or similar) *Note: regular pastels can be used, but they won't blend with a brush like the water-soluble options

• Water for rinsing brushes

• Paper towel or rag for blotting brushes

• *Optional: Stencils and Stenciling Sponge
