About the event
Immerse yourself in creativity at this unforgettable destination art retreat hosted by Julie Adriansen and Jennifer Evans.
• Are you struggling to find your unique style and artistic voice?
• Do you feel frustrated about choosing colors that express your vision?
• Are you unsure about the right supplies for your art, and don't want to waste materials?
• Would you love a change of scenery, to replenish your well of inspiration?
Join us for an "Artist's Eye View" of Palisade -- a multi-sensory experience combining scenic views, wine, local flavors, and painting. Art sessions are interspersed with visits to breathtaking Grand Valley locations. You'll gather inspiration and see how two professional artists approach the same subject.
Learn new ways to "see" and explore art: watercolor techniques from Julie and mixed media/collage/acrylic from Jennifer. Each day features artist demonstrations and classes, insight, and plenty of time for Q&A. Whether you choose to create a series of 6 mini projects or compile one over-arching mixed media piece, you'll have plenty of options and supplies at your fingertips. Let your imagination soar! You'll gain insights and ideas to include in your art for months after our time together. Art-making sessions will be located at a private residence in Palisade.
Relax at the end of each day with an upscale dinner at a local venue (see itinerary, below for links to restaurants).
NOTE*: Accommodations at The Wine Country Inn have expired. Register for the "Non-Lodging" ticket option to join us.
Indulge in the spectacular landscape, breathe the mountain air, enjoy local flavors and spark friendships during this unique art getaway.

--Welcome reception with the artists; wine/cocktails and hearty hors d'oeuvres
Monday, September 26
--10 a.m. to noon: Morning Art Session
Colorado Color Palette -- Pull inspiration from mountain terrain, vines loaded with grapes, expansive skies, treasures from the earth. Create quick studies and "snapshots" using mixed media art supplies: pastel, paint, stencils, collage. Make multiple color swatches/sample palettes for your art during the retreat and for reference after the retreat, when you're back home.
--Lunch: 13 Brix Cider Bistro
--2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Visit to Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range followed by Art Session/Journaling
Wild Horses -- Bring a camera or use your smartphone to gather reference photos of palominos, appaoloosas and wildlife in the canyons and sloping plateaus. Whether you enjoy painting animals or landscape art, capture plenty of inspiration during this outing. Experience how Jennifer and Julie interpret what they see and incorporate into their art during the late afternoon session.
--Dinner: Fidel's Cocina & Bar; Evening Round-Up
Tuesday, September 27
--10 a.m. to noon: Morning Art Session
Sketching + Watercolors -- Knowing how to plan your watercolor painting begins with the right sketch. Julie covers basics of drawing and the right tools to begin a successful watercolor piece. Use reference photos from the Wild Horse outing, pull inspiration from plein air or your own travel photos.
--Lunch; Winery Visit & Tasting
--2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Afternoon Art Session
Mixed Media Abstracts -- During this abstract process, Jennifer guides you through selecting colors, making unusual marks, and layering paint and collage to create art as unique as your signature.
