'Paint With Periwinkle' Fall Art Retreat

Immerse yourself in creativity at this unforgettable destination art retreat hosted by Julie Adriansen and Jennifer Evans.

Join us for an "Artist's Eye View" of Palisade -- a multi-sensory experience combining scenic views, wineries, local flavors, and painting. Art sessions are interspersed with visits to breathtaking Grand Valley locations. You'll gather inspiration and see how two professional artists approach the same subject. 

• Do you love art and have a desire to find your artistic voice?

• Are you unsure about the right supplies for your art, and don't want to waste materials?  

• Would you love a change of scenery, to replenish your well of inspiration?

Learn new ways to explore creativity: watercolor techniques from Julie and mixed media/collage/acrylic from Jennifer. Each day features artist demonstrations and classes, insight, and plenty of time for Q&A. You'll have multiple supplies at your fingertips, with techniques designed to make the most of your experience. Let your imagination soar! You'll gain ideas to include in your art for months after the retreat. Art-making sessions will be located at a private residence in Palisade. 

Relax at the end of each day with an upscale dinner at a local venue (see itinerary for links to restaurants). 

Indulge in the spectacular landscape, breathe the mountain air, enjoy local flavors and spark friendships during this immersive art getaway.

Thursday, September 28

--10 a.m. to noon: Morning Art Session

 Texture and Monoprinting -- Collect and archive textures inspired by Colorado terrain. Learn different ways to use the Gelli plate for prints -- both stand alone art and to incorporate into collage / mixed media art.

--Lunch by Haus of Purrl

--2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Afternoon Art Session

 Watercolor: the Fickle Medium -- Learn tips and tricks with Julie for creating texture within watercolor painting.

--Dinner: Maison La Belle Vie Winery

Friday, September 29

--10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Gentle Yoga

--11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Morning Art Session

 Channelling Your Inner Van Gogh -- Julie leads you through color and brushstrokes to create a successful watercolor piece. 

--Lunch; Visit to Blue Beryl Winery

--2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Afternoon Art Session with Mount Garfield / Book Cliff Mountains as a backdrop

  Travel Collage -- Build a mixed media piece with Jennifer, infused with fond memories and snippets of your Palisade visit.

--Dinner : Ocotillo Restaurant, Grand Junction

Saturday, September 30

--10 a.m. to noon: Morning Art Session

 Painting with Fluid Acrylics -- Jennifer guides you through staining, glazing and layering paint to make a mountain-inspired panel. Experiment with StencilGirl Products' stencils to add visual texture and interest.

--Boxed Lunch and Wine Tasting: Colterris

--2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Afternoon Art Session

 Monochromatic Watercolor with Merlot -- Paint your own masterpiece using estate grown wine. Julie guides a still life that will be a true conversation piece once you're back home.

--Dinner Prelude: Deroco Cellars

--8 p.m. Dinner Finale: Devil's Kitchen, Grand Junction

Sunday, October 1

--11 a.m. departure

         *If any art needs to be shipped back home, the morning will be used for packing and organizing 

The fall art retreat offers an opportunity to replenish your creative inspiration, meet new friends and expand your art techniques (or learn new skills).  All levels of experience welcome. 

Your registration includes:

--All art instruction and professional supplies to create your projects

--All meals (4 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners, welcome reception with drinks/hearty appetizers and snacks)

--Goody bag of art supplies and journal/sketchbook to keep -- including StencilGirl Products and more

Not included: Overnight rooms and travel to and from the retreat location. For air travel, Palisade is about 12 miles east of the Grand Junction Airport, accessible with flights into Denver or Salt Lake City. Please inquire about area hotels/accommodations if you need them.
