Pumpkins in Mixed Media

A step-by-step process of sketching and painting a mixed media pumpkin. Tips on how to create a pumpkin that looks dimensional, and paint a still life that includes more than one pumpkin. This technique is helpful whether you're painting a pumpkin/squash, or any spherical object like an apple, pear, fig, etc. (Available for purchase through November 14.)

Supply List:    

   • Watercolor paper, 140 lb., 9"x12"    

   • Gouache paint (watercolor or acrylic will also work)    

   • Paintbrush: #10 or #12 round    

   • Water-soluble pencils (like Derwent Inktense or any watercolor pencils)    

   • Water for rinsing brush    

   • Paper towel or rag for blotting brush     

   • *Optional: Caran d'Ache Neocolor II crayons
