Watercolor Poppies

Paint red poppies with watercolor. Just in time for Independence Day, celebrate patriotic red with this duo of paintings. We'll be sketching and practicing brushwork to warm up, and painting one large poppy. Then, paint a landscape garden in a looser style.

Since this is a midday session, feel free to bring a brown-bag lunch if you're joining us in person. All art supplies will be provided to create two art pieces and a practice sketch. Agora Coworking is on the corner of Atkinson and Center in Grayslake, IL. It is also the location of the Grayslake Arts Alliance art gallery -- so arrive early and browse the terrific art on both floors. (Jennifer has two acrylic/mixed media pieces hanging there.) The class will be upstairs in the meeting room.

If joining online, the Zoom link will be included in your registration confirmation. Please have the following supplies on hand:

• Watercolor Paper, 3 pages (9"x12" cold press, 140 lb.)

• Watercolor Paint -- make sure your paints include a Cadmium Red for the poppies

• Watercolor paintbrushes: #10 round, and one fine detail (#2 round) -- and if desired, a filbert brush

• Pencil for sketching

• Water for rinsing brushes

• Paper towel or rag for blotting brushes

*Reference photos will be e-mailed the morning of the class. In-person attendees, all supplies and references will be available at class.
