(ONLINE) A mixed media approach to capturing the season in art
Time & Location
Jan 15, 2022, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM CST
About the Event
The landscape is a popular subject for artists. This class will include sketching the composition and ways to interpret details. Explore line quality, varied brush strokes, and using stencils and collage to create texture. Bring a sketchbook or journal to take notes, along with a reference photo. (Snap a few photos of a sunrise or sunset before class, so you'll have examples on your phone). Sample photos will also be e-mailed prior to class.
Whether you prefer an abstract style or more literal feel, you'll achieve your desired effect using your art supplies.
Final project: an 11"x14" acrylic and mixed media landscape.
• Acrylic Paint
• Substrate: several sheets of heavyweight Bristol, Mixed Media or Watercolor paper
• Pencil, Watercolor Pencils or Water-Soluble Pastels
• Stencils (or Rubber Stamps -- anything to create a subtle pattern)
• Water and rag for blotting brushes
